Name: Eric
Door: Door Pass (Submissive)

Canon: Blood Bank
Canon Point: Post-Canon

Age: 24
Appearance: Eric is tall and wide shouldered. He has a mop of black hair and very vibrant blue eyes. His skin is naturally a light tan but he has been spending a lot of time in the Sun so it's shades darker now. He has three scars running from the top of his forehead over his right eye. He is fit and healthy and tends to wear black.

Here he is with Shell.

History: Here.

Personality: Hey before we get into this, I'm gonna preference this entire section with content warnings for domestic abuse and emotional trauma. I know this game welcomes dark themes, but I wouldn't want to spring that onto any app readers without at least warning for it first! Take care of yourself!

One of Eric's positive personality traits is his ability for empathy and self-sacrifice. When he was One this would show itself through him taking on the more difficult clients to protect the humans who were more sensitive to pheromones. This caused his workload to be much more but also earned him the trust of a fellow Banker who was particularly weak to the pheromones. As Eric, he was ready to join a human revolution, but that turned out to be a lie. Then, finally, he acted as a scapegoat for the attacks on vampires perpetuated by Humpty Dumpty. This meant that he had to fake his death and give up all of his freedom and the ability to live in society. He did this to prevent a war between humans and vampires because it was clear that neither side would survive such a conflict. Despite everything that the vampires had done to him, he still wanted to protect them from needless death and put himself in harm's way repeatedly to stop Humpty Dumpty's plans. He tends to try to protect and save as many people as possible, even when it makes things harder for himself.

This trait could be used against him so some may find it a weakness, but Eric took this morality from his father who believed that it was possible for all life to live together. Eric wishes to embody this ideal, as he is a mix of human and vampire blood. His father may be gone, but he doesn't want to let down that legacy.

That said, he also had serious issues and struggles that were very often at odds with that ideal. Most of those issues boil down to the fact that he was deeply scarred by his past. Most of his life was heavily influenced by that past, as the trauma that he suffered hung around him and refused to let him move on, that was until a lot of work on his part. He was traumatized by living in the slums with his father. He grew up in a constant state of poverty and hunger. On top of that, constantly seeing the way vampires treated humans ruined his sense of self-worth and made him hate vampires. It also caused him to reject the truth of his heritage when his father told him about it when he was young. Then he witnessed his father's murder when he was child and that, above all, left lasting damage on his psychology.

Afterwards he ran away, something that it took him a long time to forgive himself for doing, and stumbled upon a human farm that was suffering from a plague. In one of the tiny houses he found a dead child and that child's dying father. After burying the bodies, he took on that child's identity and became One. After that, he suffered under the rule of vampires - constantly seeing the way that his life and the lives of other humans were denigrated by vampires. This kind of constant dehumanization and oppression poisoned him and stirred him away from living up to the legacy hoped for by his parents.

All of this lead to some pretty spectacular anger issues as Eric experienced a lot of pent-up rage over his circumstances and the circumstances of other humans. This was one of the main things he had to work on before his relationship with Shell could become a healthy, supportive one. Before he dealt with his trauma, it got in the way of them truly communicating and lead to him doing some pretty terrible things to Shell.

His anger could be contained by his facade of being One, as he was always able to adopt a fake smile and surface pleasantries, but his interactions with Shell brought that anger to the forefront. There were even times when he could be rather abusive towards Shell, as his motives for starting their relationship weren't exactly pure. He started his agreement with Shell in part because it allowed him to hurt a vampire, kind of like payback, but as their interactions became more intense he found himself fantasizing about really hurting Shell. This scared him so much that he literally invented the concept of safe words to protect Shell.

His anger also manifested as outbursts against Shell whenever he thought Shell was being flippant about human lives or any time Shell didn't understand his privilege as a vampire. Notably, this happened when he was trying to give a report on the quality of the blood supply collected through blood taxes and Shell wanted to talk about their relationship. He became so infuriated by the way Shell was distracted from his report, as he saw it as Shell not appreciating the sacrifice humans were forced to make, that he lashed out at Shell and then told him not to contact him again.

It is important to note that much of these anger issues have been worked on in the last three years. Eric was able to work on a lot the fury he felt by embracing his true identity and he and Shell were able to build their relationship into something that is mutual and supportive. However, given the nature of the city it's possible he may regress, though it is very unlikely any of that will manifest with Shell as the scapegoat again. Shell is too important to him for him to let that happen again.

In fact, Eric's issues with anger really frighten him, and because of them, and his years of hiding behind a mask, he can come off as extremely closed off to people he doesn't know well. This is made worse by the fact that he has spent the last three years in nearly total isolation, with only Shell's visits to keep him company. For a long time, he tended to want to hold his emotions close to his chest and because of that he had a hard time containing them when they got to be too much. That was one of the main reasons his anger could get to be such a problem. He has a hard time explaining what is going on in his head to almost anyone who isn't Shell. The only other person he really started to open up to was Humpty Dumpty - and that ended up being a terrible idea.

He has a hard time articulating his trauma and grief especially, and these both have gotten bad enough that he would experience flashbacks and hallucinations when something dragged them to the forefront of his mind. His experiences after embracing his name once again have helped him tackle a lot of the damage his trauma caused on his psyche, but with the way this city functions, and Humpty Dumpty's presence within it, it's likely a lot of this will come back to haunt him.

Eric's trauma had also caused him to be very hesitant to face his past. As stated above, the fact that he ran away after his father's death was something he never forgave himself for, and that caused him to be very fearful about making any other changes in his life. If Shell hadn't have entered his life, chances are he would have continued living as One without ever letting himself be Eric again. He often berated himself for running away but was unable to do anything to stop running for a long time. His desire to run and hide was something he had to face, and eventually he was able to overcome it by staying with Shell and protecting him rather than running away again.

He still has a hard time knowing what is best to do when things are tense. He made up his mind to fake his death when needed, and after that he went into hiding for the last three years. He hasn't had to confront any other high stress situations and it's unclear if his new resolve will last when he's in the city or if he will regress. Again one of the few times he made the choice to join a cause it turned out to be a ruse by Humpty Dumpty. In fact, Humpty Dumpty is the the cause of a lot of Eric's trauma - he is the one who had Ellie killed, after all - and with him here living in the city and the way the city influences its residents, who knows if Eric's healing will be undone.

With everything that was just said, it would be easy to think that Eric is still a huge mess but main thing is though that Eric is in a process of recovery. He is aware of all of his trauma and the negative impact that had on his personality. He has made a lot of progress in the last three years that has let him move onto a peaceful life by the sea. He gave up his ability to function in society to protect both humans and vampires from a war, and helps Reign and Shell make perfumes out of his pheromones to better the world. He has confronted a lot of the most damaging aspects of his past - even dealing with a lot of the hurt Humpty Dumpty put him through. Much of what Eric experiences in the city will likely be a return to bad habits or the re-opening of old wounds. His will be a struggle between recovery and regression. There's really no telling how that will influence his personality until he experiences it.

Finally, an important aspect of Eric's personality that will definitely have an impact here is that he is the Dominant in a safe, sane, consensual BDSM relationship with Shell. At first, he thought he only partook in that aspect of their relationship as a way to punish a vampire for all he had been forced to go through, but as their relationship grew to a mutual, caring, supportive one, Eric was able to discover that aspect of his personality in a safe way. It is still an important aspect of their relationship and now the pair practice in a healthy way. Despite his natural inclination leaning towards a Dominant role, when he arrives at the city he will be marked as Submissive. It's going to lead to some interesting conflict, especially when it comes to Shell.

Powers and Abilities:
As a half vampire in the Blood Bank reality, Eric has access to pheromones that can be used in a variety of ways. It is theorized that this ability evolved as a way for vampires to communicate after the apocalyptic event that changed the world, but most of the vampires of today use their pheromones to control humans or intimidate each other. Eric has the ability to use them because his mother was a vampire. This relationship also made him entirely immune to vampire pheromones.

Eric's pheromones can uniquely impact vampires and cause them to have the same reaction that humans usually have to a vampire. This means that he can cripple a vampire with fear and give them the sense that they are about to be devoured or are suffocating under his presence. They are also strong enough to influence vampires with strong pheromones of their own. That said, they aren't always used to intimidate. He can also use them to intensify arousal and calm others. While his pheromones work very effectively on vampires, humans are also able to sense the presence he projects - they just aren't as affected by it.

Eric's pheromones also have the unique property of nullifying the influence of vampires. This is something that Shell and Reign had perfected into a perfume that they distribute to humans to allow them to function in a society that is still largely ruled by vampires. It was also used against the Red Wave that Jack and Humpty created to drive all vampires mad.

Eric also has a very strong sense of smell and is able to detect the pheromones of vampires. While he is immune to their effects, he can sense when they are being used and can guess the intention of the vampire. He also notices unique scents for vampires. His sense of smell also doesn't just work with pheromones. He also uses it to find his the old Overlord vacation home where his parents lived when he was young by following the scent of roses. He also describes scent has having a powerful influence on him, as the scent of flowers is one of the reasons he's attracted to Shell and the scent of the roses at his parents seaside home is something that helps trigger memories of that place in him. He also describes it as being a scent he had a longing for his whole life but could never place. All of this hints towards smell being more impactful to him than the average human.

Eric is also pretty strong, though not supernaturally. He's just very fit and has decent muscles. He as pretty good reflexes too, though, again, nothing too supernatural. The most notable instance of him using these skills is when the airship he was on with the bad guys exploded. Humpty fell out one of the windows, but Eric was fast and strong enough to catch him and hold onto him, even after Jack started to go wild with the controls.
